Lavalife and a dead battery

Okay, so the school week is over, and I have time to write. This week my strategic marketing plan on Lavalife was due. There were 9 of us in the group, and there were the typical slackers. One girl was assigned the editing and revision (making it all flow and look nice). A week before it was due, she handed us printed copies of our parts, with revisions on it and said “make the corrections and send it back”. WTF? we were all thinking. Isn’t that her job to do? So, we send them to her, and she emails us the “Final copy to be printed”. Yes, it’s done, right? No. She just took all the parts and stuck them all together again. It didn’t flow, there were mistakes everywhere (obvious ones!) and none of it looked the same. She didn’t even change the font and spacing! So, that letf me and this guy in my group, Ryan to do all this in two days. It was crazy. We gave people in the group new jobs to do, based on what was missing, then edited and edited like crazy. A few other members really helped out as well. Ryan printed off the plan a few hours before it was due. Then, that girl had the nerve to say to me “Oh, Steve you’re in charge of the presentation, I’m so tired on working on this Lavalife plan”. Whatever, bitch!=). We gave her a big part to do in the presentation to make up for her lack of work. Now, we’re working on the presentation for next week.

Between all that, there has been time for fun. On Sunday, Veena, Sreng and I went to Wasaga. The weather was so nice and that water was warm. Jill and Stu came up on Sunday and hung out for a few hours. They’re fun. We left early Sunday night, ready for the busy week ahead.

On Wednesday and last night, I met up with a friend and we hung out. Last night, we ran into problems. After being parked in the parking lot at Tim's (Queen and McLaughlin) for a few hours my car’s battery died. That’s what happens when you leave the radio and stuff on. Oooops. Knowing that there was no way I could explain this to my Dad (as the car is all automatic and the lights shut off on their own) I called anyone I thought would come. Jackie was in Barrie, but she was nice enough to pick up. Kyle’s phone was off, and there was no way I was going to call Veena’s house at 3:15am. Mike doesn’t have a cell phone, and I would have had to call his house. I even thought of Nancy, but hated the thought of awakening her from her Barbie playhouse bed ;). my friend had some quick thinking though, and found a cab driver to boost the battery (for a $10 charge of course). Can you image what my Dad would be thinking when he woke up a few hours later to go to work and there was no car in the driveway! I didn’t even tell him I was taking it because he was in bed when I left!
Good learning experience? Yes, and I love that!

Today I’m off to work early to do the safety inspection. For all you BP peeps, if you have any concerns about unsafe working conditions, feel free to let me know! I really take it seriously, because I hate seeing people get hurt at work.
